Sing. Act. Audition? Putting it all together: A musical theater audition workshop

presented by musical theater veterans Kathy Slack and Janelle LoSciuto, this musical theater workshop focuses on making your audition the best it can be, top to bottom. From music selection, to acting your songs, to audition wardrobe choice; you will gain valuable insights to give you the confidence to rock your next audition. Topics include:

 Choosing the RIGHT 16 bars Talking to a pianist The song as a monologue Creating a subtext Singing to a partner Using intentions Preparing your music The audition wardrobe Entering and leaving Your Audition Book


* please bring water, pencil, sheet music for songs you want to sing - Optional (We will provide a song for all to learn)


Janelle LoSciuto holds Bachelors of Music Performance w/concentrations in Musical Theater and Classical Voice from the University of Southern Maine and a Masters degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University. Janelle has been teaching private voice for more than 15 years and has experience with students of all levels and abilities. Her individualized approach ensures that each student develops a strong foundation in vocal technique. Students will learn to sing without tension, use their breath properly, transition smoothly between registers, develop a more powerful sound, and perform with confidence.

Kathy Slack has had an extensive career in both academia and theater/music. She holds a BA in Theater/Speech with a Voice Minor from Ithaca College, and a MA in Communication Studies from the University of Maine/Orono. Newly retired from teaching for the University of Maine system for over 25 years, she now devotes her time to teaching Voice at 317 Main and in her home Voice studio. Kathy works with all kinds of repertoire, and has been trained in both classical and contemporary, styles including Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, Folk, Rock, and Musical Theater.
