THE MAINE TRAIL: THE STORY OF MALAGA
Discover the secrets of Malaga Island with Master Maine Guide Alice Bean Andrenyak! Spend the morning sea kayaking in beautiful Casco Bay and learn the history of Malaga Island, a former interracial colony that was eradicated by the State of Maine in the early 1900’s. Explore the nooks and crannies of the rugged Maine coast, while learning about the culture of the island colony and possibly observing seals, osprey, and great blue herons during our five hour journey. Let’s visit historic sites on the island and enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach. Don’t miss this chance to experience and learn about the history of Maine’s coast! All equipment included in cost. Information about departure location will be emailed to participants in advance. Please bring closed-toe shoes that can get wet, a hat, windbreaker/rain coat, 32 ounces of water, a bagged lunch, sunscreen, and no cotton clothing. Space is VERY limited. A second trip date may be added if there is sufficient interest. No refunds will be issued within 2 weeks of the trip date.
