In partnership with the Portland Rugby Football Club (PRFC), the Major League Rugby champions the New England Freejacks, and USA Rugby, we are excited to introduce the sport of Rugby to our community. This *five-week youth instructional program will emphasize the mechanics and skills of the game in a safe, fun environment. Players will learn the basics of playing offense and defense, passing and receiving, teamwork, and sportsmanship -- all in a friendly flag-football-style setting. After four instructional sessions, there will be a capstone "festival" day, where players from the rugby hubs in our region will gather for a day of competitive round-robin play, food and fun. This program has the potential to ladder-up to summer camps, a youth rugby league, and competitive rugby offered through Maine high schools. Don't miss this great chance to get involved early! Parent volunteers are needed in order to run this program!
*Weeks 1-4 are included in the schedule below. The 5th week will tentatively take place on Sunday, June 7th, however this is subject to change. We hope to host this final session on a Sunday where the high school team hosts their tournament, and have a fun "festival" type feel to the day.
