Making Music Again - Music - Fall
Did you play a musical instrument as a kid and have always wanted to pick it back up? If you have an orchestral instrument: flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpet, saxophone, French horn, trombone, violin, viola, cello, or double bass, and have prior musical experience (even from decades ago) on your instrument, this is a wonderful way to revisit and rekindle your musical skills. This eight-week course will get you back into the swing of music making. All musicians will receive simple sheet music to play through. Together as an ensemble we will practice, make mistakes, and explore concepts such as tuning, tone, technique, balance, rhythm, and dynamics.

Travel Basketball (Grade 5-8) - Girls Travel Basketball (Grades 5-6)
We will have a parent information night on Wednesday, October 21st, in the FHS Cafeteria, starting promptly at 6pm. This meeting will cover all things youth basketball for the 2026-27 season.Maine offers various opportunities for kids to play basketball at a higher level. We are offering early registration for those interested in a competitive Travel Basketball league. This winter, teams will participate in The Maine Basketball League (TMBL). General details for the season can be found online at that link, and specifics will be added to MyRec in November.We have moved our deadlines forward by one week! Registration for this program closes on November 1st October 25th, with the *Evaluation Night taking place Wednesday, October 28th from 5-6:30pm (girls) and 6:30-8pm (boys). We will not accept any new registrations after evaluations have concluded, no exceptions. All players must register and pay the fee online before attending evaluations. If cuts are necessary, any player not placed on a team will have their full registration fee refunded.*Players only interested in playing Rec Basketball are still welcome and encouraged to attend this Evaluation Night without registering/paying the Travel fee (but you must already be registered for the Rec Season in order to attend). After the evaluation night and when teams are established, a coach will reach out with details on practice days and times.Teams will practice twice per week beginning the week of November 9th. The official game schedule is TBD, but games will likely begin the last week of November and run until February break. Additional pre-season scrimmages and post-season tournaments are available for teams that are interested (tournaments may require additional fees not covered by the registration fee).Parent coaches and assistants are needed in order to run this program. Perhaps you took German in college years ago and would now like to refresh your knowledge, or maybe you are planning a trip to Germany and would like to know the most important phrases to get around. Together, we will learn about the German language, the rich culture, various traditions, and the German lifestyle in general. The class is held in a relaxed and fun atmosphere, open to everyone.
